As this year’s International Women’s Day shines a spotlight on progress towards gender equality, X-Golf Group highlights how indoor golf is helping reshape one of the world’s most traditionally male-dominated sports.
With female participation accelerating nationally, Golf Australia reports show that women account for almost 88 per cent of participants in its national Get Into Golf beginner program. The growth is even more pronounced off-course, where women now make up roughly half of all participants compared with around a quarter of traditional golf club members.
X-Golf Group is proud to be driving ahead in women’s participation and its commitment has been realised in a big way this year, with the group formally signing the R&A Women in Golf Charter back in January. A global initiative that encourages golf organisations to take measurable action to improve gender balance across the sport, X-Golf’s pledge reflects a direction the business has been pursuing since inception.
On the ground, women are increasingly represented across the X-Golf network – from franchise partners and venue staff to head office leadership and coaching roles. Collectively, it’s driving a more inclusive and welcoming culture for women both on and off the green.

In Western Australia, PGA Associate Golf Coach Aleisha Weidmann is among the growing number of female professionals helping guide the next generation of golfers through the X-Golf model. Balancing coaching with family life, Aleisha’s journey reflects the evolving face of the sport and the opportunities emerging for women across all levels of the industry.
For Brisbane golfer Bree Edwards, regular sessions at X-Golf with fellow female players have helped create a strong sense of camaraderie while complementing time spent on traditional courses. Bree has found that the social format allows women to learn together, share advice and build confidence before taking their skills onto the fairway.
That growing confidence is now translating into competitive play as well. Back in the west at X-Golf Rockingham, the venue recently launched its first all-female X-League team (pictured below) – a milestone that highlights the rising number of women participating in organised competition.
For X-Golfer Kaitlyn Dean, the simulator environment has been key to building confidence in the sport.
“As a female beginner, playing on a traditional course can feel stressful and rushed. X-Golf removes that pressure completely and gives you the time and space to focus on your own game, which makes learning far more enjoyable,” she said.
“I’ve been coming to X-Golf since November 2023 and started playing Ladies Night in May 2025. I’m now excited to head into the X-League season with my first women’s team, and the team is 10 out of 10! Whether it’s quiet or busy, the vibe is always relaxed and welcoming. It’s genuinely a faultless experience.”

This International Women’s Day, X-Golf proudly celebrates the women across our venues, teams and playing communities who continue to shape the future of the game.
From first-time players picking up a club to coaches, partners and professionals leading the way, their passion, confidence and support for one another are helping golf become a more inclusive and welcoming sport for everyone.
From everyone at X-Golf Group – Happy International Women’s Day!
