

X-Golf Penrith’s Matt Newton has delivered one of the most extraordinary achievements the country has ever witnessed, smashing the Guinness World Record for the most golf holes played in 24 hours.
In a staggering show of endurance, purpose and pure grit, Matt completed 810 holes in just 20 hours – more than 50 beyond the previous 756-hole benchmark and in four hours less time.
The accomplishment cements him as an official world record holder and marks a major milestone for the entire X-Golf network.
The record-breaking attempt didn’t just draw local interest – it ignited widespread attention across the Sydney region and beyond.
Spectators saw the news of Matt’s attempt play out on 9 News Sydney, Code Sports, 2GB and The Daily Telegraph, with stories rolling out across radio, television and digital platforms throughout the weekend.


As the hype built, Penrith locals flocked to X-Golf Penrith to cheer Matt on throughout the weekend, with the community rallying behind one of their own as he pushed through fatigue, blisters and the mental strain of continuous play.
Despite the enormous physical challenge, Matt’s mission was never just about breaking a record.
His attempt formed a key part of X-Golf Australia’s annual Starlight Swing fundraising campaign, raising money to support the Starlight Children’s Foundation and grant life-changing wishes for seriously ill kids.
His personal GoFundMe raised $5,600 with an online auction adding even more to his efforts. When combined with X-Golf’s national tally of $9,500, total funds raised have already surged past $15,000.
With a target of $37,500 to grant five life-changing wishes and the fundraiser closing this Sunday, 30 November, supporters are being urged to get involved while there’s still time.




A hole new level
Matt began his marathon at 5pm on Saturday, 22 November at X-Golf Penrith, where he remained on his feet for nearly a full day, forgoing rest as he powered through hole after hole.
Fuelled by the on-site kitchen and kept motivated by the constant stream of supporters, he pushed himself beyond limits to deliver a world-record-breaking 810 holes.
The cheering, media cameras, live updates and ongoing momentum turned the venue into a buzzing hub of excitement for the western Sydney community!
The Starlight Swing has long united golfers across X-Golf venues nationwide, inspiring players to take action and raise funds throughout November.
