A simple walk along the Nepean River is helping Penrith men find friendship, connection and support when life gets tough. Now, X-Golf Penrith is helping that message reach even further.
The venue has chosen Penrith Men’s Walk & Talk as its local charity partner for X-Golf for Good, the national fundraising initiative running until 15 November.
The concept is deliberately simple. Walking side by side can make conversations easier, helping men build friendships and support networks without the pressure of sitting down for a formal discussion about mental health.
For Anthony, who regularly joins the walks with friends and family, that connection is central to the group’s value.
“Mental health is a complex problem,” Anthony said.
“Catching up for a walk and talk is a simple concept, but it plays a critical role in our community.”
“Penrith Men’s Walk & Talk is helping break down the stigma around vulnerability, giving local blokes a chance to be themselves, connect with like-minded men and have serious conversations when they need to.”
The group’s focus on mateship and connection resonated with X-Golf Penrith franchisee Kylie Newton, whose venue has built its own community around golf, competition and spending time with friends.
“Last year, our team showed just how much can be achieved when you bring people together for a meaningful cause,” Kylie said.
“This year, we wanted to channel that same energy into something happening right here in our own backyard.”
The partnership follows a standout fundraising effort in 2025, when X-Golf Penrith franchisee Matt Newton set a Guinness World Record for the most golf holes played in 24 hours in support of the Starlight Children’s Foundation. The wider X-Golf network raised more than $21,000 for the charity, a large portion of which was generated by Penrith X-Golfers.
This year, the focus is closer to home, with X-Golf Penrith encouraging locals to get behind Men’s Walk & Talk through X-Golf for Good fundraising activities and donations.
The national initiative brings X-Golf venues and their communities together to support causes making a difference locally. You can find a cause that’s close to your heart and make a difference here.
