Two ex-Army mates are swapping bomb suits for birdies as they open the region’s first-ever X-Golf indoor golf entertainment precinct located at Ashmore.
The $1.5 million state-of-the-art venue is the first of its kind on the Gold Coast and comes after former Ammunition Technician, Mitch, was looking for a way to stay active around his injuries from the Army.
From ammunition to aces: The journey to X-Golf Ashmore
The grand opening of X-Golf Ashmore, a $1.5 million 600sqm space, marks the culmination of a new venture for owner Mitch who found indoor golf to be the perfect new sport that he could play around his injuries after being medically discharged from the Army.
“I’ve always loved soccer, but after leaving the Army, it wasn’t something I could pursue. When I discovered X-Golf, it was a no-brainer — I could still play a sport and enjoy the competitive side of things without aggravating my injuries,” Mitch said.
The transition from military service to civilian life can be challenging, but for Mitch, opening his own business has felt surprisingly natural.
“Starting my first-ever franchise is nerve-wracking, but when I think about what we did in the Army, this is a walk in the park!”
Joining Mitch in this new venture is his long-time friend and fellow ex-Army Ammunition Technician, Alex, who also made the transition after being medically discharged.
The two mates are excited to bring a brand-new entertainment hotspot to the Gold Coast, combining their love for sport with a welcoming atmosphere.

X-Golf Ashmore is set to become the Gold Coast’s go-to spot for both seasoned golfers and those new to the sport, offering the ability to play on the world’s most realistic simulators rain, hail or shine.
X-Golf simulators are renowned world over for their constantly evolving technology, equipped with high-resolution cameras, infrared lasers and impact sensors to track every shot in detail.
Golfers can even virtually play on over 50 of the world’s most prestigious courses.

The venue boasts a range of entertainment options, including darts lanes, a pool table and big screens showing live sporting events.
Guests can enjoy a full-service bar with tap beer and cocktails, as well as a full kitchen serving delicious food.
The venue will also host X-League tournaments, the largest virtual golf competition of its kind, as well as seasonal events and opportunities to practice with PGA Pro golfers.
“We know the Gold Coast has a great golf scene, but combining that with great hospitality, food, drinks and an electric atmosphere is going to be a game-changer for the sport here,” said Alex.
“We’re really excited to bring this all together.”
Building a local team with community at the fore
Mitch and Alex have already started recruiting a local team, with plans to bring on board more ex-Army comrades to create a supportive and tight-knit environment.
The pair are grateful for the warm reception and support they’ve received from the local community.
“It’s great to find a purpose and to feel the support from everyone here. We’re looking forward to making X-Golf Ashmore a real community hub,” Mitch said.
“We’re excited to be starting this journey and are thrilled to see the interest, with bookings already rolling in for the festive season.”
