Two brothers, one a two-time Olympian, are bringing a new kind of sports entertainment to the Central Highlands with the launch of X-Golf Ballarat taking place this week.
Set in Invermay Park in Ballarat’s north, the new venue is the result of a lifelong love shared passion and working together as Scott Ferrier, 50, and his brother Ben, 48, get a venture off the ground that’s been ‘years in the making’.
“X-Golf Ballarat has been a long time coming and it’s inspired by our upbringing and our dad, who is nearly 80 now and still hits a long ball,” Scott said.
“He’s thrilled to see us working together, especially in a sport that he fell in love with himself in his 40s.”
Having opened to the public on Monday 26 May, X-Golf Ballarat spans 630sqm and features six high-tech simulators that use infrared cameras and high-impact sensors to create a supremely realistic golfing experience.
It will also feature X-Golf’s first ever PuttView simulator for putting practice plus darts lanes, a fully licensed bar and kitchen, PGA Pro coaching and access to Australia’s largest virtual golf competition, X-League.
Ben said the inspiration behind X-Golf was to make golf more accessible to everyone.
“Any golfer will tell you it’s a time-consuming sport and players often have other priorities which keep them from spending hours on the course,” he said.
“That was a big attraction for us. X-Golf removes the time constraints, it allows you to play regardless of the weather and it’s great for everyone from beginners to scratch golfers.”

With Foxtel sport casting on 120-inch big screens, a wide array of food and drinks and capacity for private events and community group initiatives, the brothers hope to create a vibrant new hub for local sports lovers.
X-Golf simulators offer players access to 50 of the world’s most famous courses including St Andrews, Pebble Beach and Augusta. They also deliver detailed data analytics, custom 3D graphics and a patented automatic ball retrieval and tee-up system so there’s no need to chase golf balls.
“We’re really looking forward to offering something new within Ballarat’s thriving golf community,” Ben said.
