Hollywood actor and golf enthusiast Kevin Costner traded movie sets for simulator bays during his recent stay in Brisbane, becoming a familiar face at X-Golf South Bank while filming the upcoming feature Honeymoon With Harry.
Best known for his starring roles in Yellowstone and the iconic golf film Tin Cup, Costner made the South Bank venue a regular stop throughout his eight-week stay in the River City, returning almost weekly for a hit between filming commitments.
For X-Golf South Bank owner Simon Neil, welcoming one of the world’s most recognisable actors and passionate golfers was a memorable experience.
“He clearly has a genuine love for the game, so it was fantastic to see him make X-Golf part of his Brisbane routine,” Simon said.
“We were certainly all a little starstruck at first, but after a while he was just another golfer enjoying a hit. He was incredibly down-to-earth and always happy to be here.”
Despite his international profile, Costner’s visits were low-key, often focused on spending time with family while enjoying the opportunity to play in a relaxed and private environment.
“We were really chuffed to host him almost every week,” Simon said.
“The fact that he kept coming back was a real compliment to the team and the experience we’ve worked hard to create. His presence certainly had South Bank buzzing.”
While the superstar’s Brisbane stay generated headlines across Australia, for the team at X-Golf South Bank it highlighted something much simpler: great golf experiences appeal to everyone.
