X-Golf’s inaugural Starlight Scramble has come to a successful close, with 25 venues across Australia participating in the nationwide fundraising initiative.
Raising a total of $7,500, enough to grant the wish of one seriously ill child, the two-month-long event will offer a moment of happiness and respite for a child and their family amidst the challenges of illness.
The Starlight Scramble invited participants to take part in a nine-hole scramble, pledging a donation of the $70 savings X-Golf wiped off simulator hire.
A community effort
With over 100 donations made across the country, X-Golf Penrith emerged as the highest fundraising location, contributing an impressive $1,840 to the national total.
The community spirit at X-Golf Penrith was palpable, with 48 local golfers taking part in the event across September and October.
Surrounding local businesses showed tremendous support, with donations of raffle prizes valued at over $2,500 from partners including Harvey Norman Penrith, Dolce Mia Pasticceria, MG Activ Gym, Chris Lawler Building, ArtSup and Outback Steakhouse.
X-Golf Penrith’s Kylie Newton said the team is passionate about the cause and thanks the generosity of the local community.
“It was a collective effort and we’re thrilled to know that our fundraising will help bring joy to a child in need.”
Kirk Perkins, a regular at X-Golf Penrith, was among those personally motivated to support the cause.
“If a small donation can bring happiness to someone in need, I’m more than willing to contribute,” Kirk said.
The Starlight Foundation’s Lee Bailie acknowledged the importance of community-driven initiatives such as the X-Golf Starlight Scramble in making their work possible.
“We couldn’t deliver our programs without the support and generosity of organisations like X-Golf and their incredible communities,” Lee said.
A word from X-Golf
X-Golf’s Peter Nolan said that when sick kids’ worlds are filled with hospitals and treatments, a Starlight Wish is an incredible gift of happiness.
“It’s a cause that’s close to our hearts and we’re pleased to work together to help these families leave the pain of illness behind for a moment to enjoy more of what matters most.”
The success of X-Golf’s very first fundraiser highlights the potential for continued community involvement in future initiatives.
“Our mission has always been to foster a sense of community and create spaces where people can connect, engage and enjoy meaningful experiences,” Peter said.
“We believe in the power of coming together for a greater cause, so at X-Golf, we’re not just playing golf, we’re creating moments that really matter.”
