X-Golf’s flagship competitive league, X-League, is officially back for 2026, marking another major season for the country’s largest indoor golf competition.

Now entering its 13th season, X-League continues to bring together thousands of players across the X-Golf network, combining structured competition with the social, welcoming atmosphere the brand is known for.

Running across 32 X-Golf venues spanning Australia and New Zealand, the 2026 season will feature 1,500 players, ranging from first-time competitors to experienced golfers looking for a consistent, high-quality competition format.

Players can expect a regular weekly fixture played in teams, with scoring formats designed to suit mixed abilities. Matches are fast-paced, social and supported by X-Golf’s X-Green software and ultra-realistic simulator technology, allowing players to track performance while enjoying a relaxed, indoor setting.

For many participants, X-League becomes a standing weekly commitment and a reliable way to compete, unwind and connect with others.

Northern Territory player Matthew Cheong-Wing said the league offered an unexpected step outside his comfort zone. After joining X-Golf Palmerston as a member when the venue first opened in 2023, he was gradually encouraged by staff to take part in social games before eventually having a go at X-League.

“I was really nervous to join the league at first because I didn’t want to look foolish,” he said.

“But the staff encouraged me to give it a go and I haven’t looked back. It’s a great competition and a very social atmosphere, and I love being able to compete again as I get older.”

Also playing out of Palmerston, Sam Wright knows that pathway well, having already experienced success.

“We were lucky enough to win season three in 2024,” he said.

“Representing not just Palmerston but the whole state on a national level would be unreal. We’ll definitely be striving for that again this year.”

While competition is a major drawcard, players consistently highlight the league’s social appeal.

“It’s two hours every week where I can catch up with mates, have great conversations and play a bit of golf. It’s welcoming, fun and not intimidating at all,” Sam said.

Teams progress through local venues and can play up to three seasons per year, with the opportunity to qualify for venue finals and state finals, culminating in the X-League Grand Championship event at the end of the year. It’s a weekend-long event that X-Golf has become renowned for, bringing together top-performing teams from across Australia and New Zealand to represent their region and take home a massive prize pool, making it one of the most anticipated dates on the X-Golf calendar.

And the year is shaping up to be a ripper so far…

X-Golf Rockingham has marked a major milestone already, with the formation of X-Golf’s first ever all-female X-League team. The team reflects the growing number of women choosing off-course golf as their entry point into the game and demonstrates how X-League continues to evolve as a genuinely inclusive competition.
